Before deciding on a purchase, it is worth checking what material the specific type of door is made from. This will help us assess its durability and solidity. As we know, we don’t replace internal doors very often, so it’s worth having a high-quality product that will last for years.
When choosing wooden internal doors, we usually focus on their appearance and price. We recommend getting acquainted with the technical data of the doors and checking what forms the basis of the filling? – meaning what is inside and outside. Is it solid wood, MDF board, HDF – and also what material is the outer layer made of? Additionally, we should find out what material the door frame is made of.
The price range for doors is really large. The term “wooden” used by the manufacturer does not guarantee that the doors are entirely made of wood. It is worth knowing this.
We start with wood doors – they are characterized by low thermal expansion and very good insulation properties. Thanks to this, they easily handle retaining both warmth and coolness. It is a timeless and durable element – a purchase for years – or even decades.
Another major advantage here is the appearance – every pair of doors looks different – depending on the wood grain. Furthermore, door frames also made of wood ensure greater stability to the doors. Internal wooden doors are also very durable and solid. Additionally – what is very important is that if they are damaged, they can be sanded and then painted to look new again.
Regarding the disadvantages, the only one is probably the price, but we know that quality costs money. Furthermore, if we choose oiled doors – we will have to oil them ourselves every few years (it is not a complicated process). For painted doors, this is not a problem. And what is a disadvantage, but also an advantage, is that wooden doors are heavy.

One of the advantages of MDF board doors is mainly the price – this is what clients usually focus on when buying. Doors consisting only of MDF board have lower moisture resistance – they can swell upon contact with water – unfortunately, an unsightly bulge forms there that cannot be removed. We can only replace the doors with new ones.
We should also be careful about scratches, which we also cannot remove, just like in the case of wooden doors. Internal doors are often filled with cardboard, or particleboard. These are not soundproof doors – they do not protect against noise.
It’s different in the case of MDF doors with a solid wood frame. Such doors have much longer lifespan. Their quality is also much better than doors made entirely of MDF. They do not get damaged when in contact with water, and any scratches can be easily repaired. The wooden frame is then visible, and we can easily tell that it is solid wood.
This is a type of door that has a frame made of a different material than the filling. The frame can be made of wood or wood-like material. The filling is usually a board, honeycomb, or hollow board. Usually, an MDF or HDF board is applied to this structure and covered with paint, laminate, or veneer.

Remember that, if possible, the doors should not cover light switches; ideally, they should open onto an empty wall. Additionally, if we have two doors close together, we should ensure they do not collide when opening.

Currently, we have the option to choose hinges not only based on their visual appearance, but also adjustability. This is very helpful and not as complicated as it used to be. By having adjustable hinges, we can easily adjust the position of our doors relative to the frame.
Usually, shops do not offer wooden doors; we may occasionally find pine doors. If we want to buy doors that last for years, we should use a carpenter’s services, as they will make us doors from seasoned and dried wood, which is very important and affects their overall quality.
We can save money by purchasing the doors with installation, because according to regulations, VAT is 8%. If we buy the doors without installation, we must pay 23% VAT. This is a significant difference, especially when purchasing expensive doors.
Built-in doors have a recess that fits into the door frame. Then the leaf covers part of the door frame, causing a gap – which makes the surface of the leaf protrude from the surface of the frame. Built-in doors look good in traditional, classic interiors. They were installed in practically all homes and apartments a few years ago.
Flush doors have a simple end, so the doors are flush with the frame. When closed, both elements – the leaf and the frame – form one plane. This is an ideal solution for modern and minimalist interiors. They will therefore harmonize in modern spaces, and additionally, when used in small rooms, they enlarge them.
To summarize, there is a difference in the finishing of the leaf edge between flush and built-in doors.

Wooden doors can be made of solid wood, and additionally they can be coated with natural veneer – meaning a thin layer of wood. Solid wooden doors are more expensive than particleboard doors, which translates into quality.
To summarize – if we are planning to buy doors for years, this will be the best choice. We can renew them every so often, paint them, stain them, oil them – depending on our preferences. Wooden doors are a popular choice for residential and commercial buildings because they are characterized by aesthetics, durability, and functionality.
Let’s not skimp on doors, because this is something that is heavily used by us, especially bathroom doors. They constantly work and are subject to damage and impacts, so let’s take care of their quality, as we do not replace them with every home renovation.
